Activities Performed under this Agreement:
1-Established 18 wild trout Indigenous Fish Conservation Youth Councils (Shuras) on the Bank of Dare-Peaj River with (300 male) and (60 female) in 3 districts of Kunar Province.
2- Conducted and completed (18) Environmental and Biodiversity Awareness raising Sessions to the Youth Councils (Shuras) with (300 male) and (60 female) participants in 3 districts of Kunar Province.
3-The youths commenced the prevention of illegal fishing and Genocide practices of wild trout Fish in Dare-Peaj Sea , to date prevented (97) Cases , as OCHA Fishing Monitor tracked from each Council , however the new regime (Taliban) forces using rockets and AK-S small bombs for killing the fishes , we are unable to stop them.
4- Constructed a Fishpond (30mx15m), the labor working opportunity was incorporated to (22) skilled and unskilled poor Covid19 affected individuals.
5-Purchased (600) Trout Fish breeds in Jabulusaraj (Salang) and shifted in water Tanker with Oxygen and snow facilities and dropped to the Fishpond for rearing, research and livelihood recreation of the Covid19 affected vulnerable community. Besides has just provided the Feed to the community for its rearing for 12 Months in pond for business and toreduce the pressure on biodiversity of the indigenous Fish Species in mentioned area on the bank of Dare-Peaj river.
6- OCHA has undertaken the research on domestic Trout Fish that was adopted with Kunar and Nuristan rivers water and undertaken a research on Trout vs indigenous Species of Kunar river Fish (wild trout) in a small separated Pond , OCHA has found that both adult species were really friendly and no invasive to each other , with this methodology we have jointly dropped 10 domestic Trout (Spineless) , 10Indigenous (wild trout with spines, Trout of Dare-Peaj river) to a small Fish pond for 10 days to get to know whether any of them is offensive or harmful to another species however nothing found to be reported as a concern of invasive between the species crossed for research of the deal between species. However, with Larva of Dare-peaj river wild species we found some larva was depleted, in the result it is invasive for Larva only and it is the common nature of trout to eat the small things of meat like worm, Larva, Insects…etc.
7-Conducted (3) events per district with total 100 participants on the Indigenous wild trout Species Conservation alongside the Forest Conservation which is a serious matter for now because the new regime allowed for cutting the forest or its shipment legally that has accelerated cutting of the indigenous valued forests. Besides that, OCHA has described the activities and achievements with SGP project results in few Slides.
Results:
OCHA NNGO Provided the following results to UNDP -SGP:
1-OCHA has found that trout is a rare valued FishSpecies for Livelihood recreation of the communities that has adopted with Kunar Dare Peaj and Nuristan rivers only, the Tourism and biodiversity is mutually supportive and UNDP may go with Fish Ponds with a small Cafeterias and a small Parks for Tourists on the bank of Dare Peajriver and Nuristan province that will empower the economics of the indigenous communities and will recreate livelihood opportunities. OCHA has found that a trout Fish can be grown till (1) Kg in 12 months with 300 AFNs cumulative costs and earning 1,000 AFNs per Kg in market and hotels the total weight limit gaining by Trout is up to 6 Kg. It is to be mentioned that (1) Kg cost of domestic Spineless trout is 100 $ in France.
2- OCHA has conserved the indigenous wild Trout Fish of the kunar Dare peaj river through the life span of the project and the Youth conservation council will work further more on volunteer basis for the sake of the protection of Dare-Peaj wild trout indigenous species from harmful practices (Generator Electricity Shots, Using of Toxic Chemicals, Using of blasting materials and other practices that can lead to the genocide of the fish in river). The councils that were incorporated on the bank of the river has found 97 cases which were found harmful to the Fish and resolved them accordingly Since May-2021 to date we are closing the project.
It is to be mentioned here that the indigenous Species of this river was declined due to many reasons from which the majority was a natural disaster of 2017 that has led to the genocide of Kunar river indigenous species , for now it is almost recovered but needs more attention to the human made disasters for killing it lamp-sum.
3-OCHA has found that Trout is no invasive species to adult wild Trout Species of the KunarDare-Peajriver.However, it is to be noted that it is not invasive to the adult Species of any Fish but it is invasive to the hatches and larva of other species, hence the nature of the trout is hunter and eating small things with meat like (Insects larva, worm, frog larva,Fish larva…etc.).
